10/10/25 Jan & Den’s walk ≅5mls – meet at 9.45am at Anston Parish Hall Car Park S25 4DL, (OS Sheet Ref SK 521 843).
Directions:- from Junction 31 on the M1 take the A57 for approx 3 miles (passing the Red Lion Hotel at Todwick S26 1DJ at the big roundabout on the way) and turn left at the traffic lights at the Anston crossroads, the Hall is on the right once you pass under the railway bridge.
At 10am we walk up to South Anston Village (crossing the A57) and St James’ Churchyard, along First Lane and through farm fields and then down to the Chesterfield Canal.
We walk east towards Thorpe Locks where we have coffee. We cross the Sheffield/Lincoln railway line and walk along Lindrick Dale. We then cross the A57 and walk back to the car park through Anston Stones Wood (a SSSI).
The short walk will probably be a circuit of Anston Stones Wood for ≅3mls.
We will be lunching after the walk at the Red Lion Hotel, take the first left turn at the Red Lion roundabout into the Hotel car park – please ensure you register your car number plate on the screen at the bar inside the Hotel.
