Thanks are due to all the many who, over the years, have provided photos of our walks and social events.
There are few photos from the pre-digital/phone camera age. Many of those older photos were converted to digital when the web was slow and space was critical and so ended up as small/low quality. That problem continued with the arrival of digital and phone cameras. The earliest produced small low quality images. The latest deliver images that are much bigger and higher quality, they need further processing for online use.
How to use…
The galleries are arranged by year, newest first.
Clicking an image will show it full size, there are forward-backward arrows and an X top right to close the gallery.
Adding photos
My supply of photos seems to have dried up in recent years apart from the odd one. If you have any to add be they more recent or to add to past years please send (but see the note below about filenames). Do be selective, just send a handful of the best.
The problem has now changed, photos from mobile phones can be massive and it is necessary to adjust them to be used on-line.
If you have photos to add, please change the name from that produced by the camera which is typically something like IMG123454.JPG to something useful like 211127-Edale-Veal.jpg, that’s date as yymmdd, place, subject. The subject is anything not obvious but that might be a useful adition (e.g. anniversary dinner).
Filesize is a problem, online storage capacity is limited and visitors will find that large images can take a long time to download. I prefer images about 1000px wide and roughly “postcard” proportions. If you aren’t able to manipulate images to suit, that’s not a problem, it’s trivial for me but don’t be surprised when viewing your photo on-line it’s smaller than the original.
Optionally you can also send some caption text to be shown below the photo.
If you wish to assert copyright, please do so by sending some appropriate text (or ideally including it on the image if you know how).
