The Hole in the Wall Walking Group

Contacting the group

Contact Barrie for phone numbers or email addresses of club members.
Information for members such as details of a forthcoming walk or a news item should be sent to Barrie who will forward to everyone by email. These may subsequently added to the web site (subject to Rob’s availability).

Website availability and updates

Rob pays for the domain name and for hosting the website at no cost to HITW.  If you or any of your colleagues needs a web site (or help fixing problems on one) please consider using Robs services. He also makes all the updates and addresses any problems which might emerge. Many of us are from an IT background and know that even the global bank we once worked for experiences occasional IT problems (even more so now we’ve all retired!). I can’t claim to offer better reliability than the bank. The web site is maintained on the basis of “reasonable efforts” and if I’m not around when fixes or updates are needed, they’ll just not happen.
The web site is intentionally not indexed on Google search although it may still find some links.

Credits

It seems divisive to single out individuals for special credit as everyone has made a contribution, at the very least by leading one or two walks a year. However from my limited perspective (having only been walking with HITW since 2007) a few thoughts come to the fore.

  • Mike and Janet for leading the inaugural walk in 1991 and Janet for her subsequent organisational role.
  • The various photographers who have contributed to the photographic record and archive.
  • Those who started the group back in 1991.
  • Barrie for his coordinating role in more recent years.
  • All those who have organised special events such as Christmas and Summer meals – and the 25th anniversary event.
  • Chris Marley for running an earlier version of the web site for a few years.
  • Den Jarrold for maintaining the Walking Log spreadsheet.
  • Anyone I’ve omitted who I should have remembered…
