When we did our recce last week we found that the wooden boardwalk around the top reservoir was closed. They are in the process of replacing it with a stone walkway.
This has meant a slight change to our plans.
We start from the carpark of the Peacock Inn, School Hill, Main Road, Cutthorpe, Chesterfield, S42 7AS.
The plan is to pass through the park’s carpark and proceed around the reservoirs anti-clockwise.
We will walk along the dam wall of the top reservoir, then around the far side of the middle and bottom reservoirs and back to the pub.
Paths are well defined and, at the time of the recce, were quite mud-free.
Distance is around 4 miles with plenty of options for shorter walks in the area.
For those interested there is also the Dunston Hall Garden Centre which is approximately 5 minutes drive away on the road back to Whittington Moor. There is a very good cafe there.
It would be appreciated if you could let Barrie know whether or not you are planning to eat at the pub by end of day Wednesday as he is handling that side of the walk and he will let the pub know the numbers.
Pre-ordering is not required. It would also be appreciated if you could let me know if you are planning to do the main walk.
Start is for the usual time of 10:00 with the pub booked for around 1:00.
Best regards
John and Jan.
